Rustin Smith, CEO

Rustin Smith.jpg

Rustin is the CEO of Scalability and CloudBooks (our parent company). His career started as a CA with KPMG followed by almost ten years as a VP with Goldman Sachs in their hedge fund accounting and administration business. The entrepreneurial itch eventually got the best of him - he left Goldman to be the VP of Finance for the Toronto software startup Wave Accounting. It was at Wave that he was introduced to the world of cloud accounting and software and realized how quickly the bookkeeping and accounting world was changing.

After a couple of years with a more traditional bookkeeping and accounting firm as the CFO and COO, he discovered Scalability. Impressed with the founders, the staff and the platform, he jumped at the opportunity to get involved.

When Rustin is not busy "Scal'ing" or telling bad jokes, he coaches his son in Leaside hockey and baseball or shuttles his daughter between dance class and hockey games!  Rustin always finds some time to escape to visit family and friends in Winnipeg and Lake of the Woods (quite possibly his favourite place on earth!)

Pamela N., Director of Services

Holding an Honours BBA from Schulich School of Business and designated CPA, Pamela brings over ten years of expertise with small to medium sized companies in the capacity of Controller and Director of Finance. She has extensive experience dealing with the full cycle accounting and HR requirements for companies located in both Canada and various states in the US; setting up subsidiary offices in the UK, France and Germany -registering the offices, setting up payroll accounts, setting up employment contracts that comply with local laws, etc.- She joined Scalability as the Director of Service and she is the first point of escalation for all client issues.

During office hours, her passion is setting up companies from day one and guide business owners through the process to ensure they stay on the right track from the very start; in her spare time, you will find her experimenting with new recipes to share with friends and family (feel free to contact her directly for recipes inquiries). In the summer time, she spends time in my garden garden hoping to win the war against the weeds and, for the rest of the year, she strive valiantly- but usually not successfully- to keep her house plants alive.

Azucena Saucedo, Account Manager

Azucena's career started in the manufacturing industry, where she began her journey mastering the back office processes, inventory controls and even relationships management between different stakeholders within the company; of course, bookkeeping and accounting were always part of the job. The challenges that companies face when there are broken relationships between departments, led her to become passionate - sometimes obsessed- with internal controls. When she joined Toronto's tech start-up Wave Accounting, her internal control's obsession reached an new level- how to implement control while fitting in the tech start-up culture.

After moving to a traditional firm downtown Toronto, she began to miss the start-up environment and joined Scalability where, during business hours, gets to connect with awesome start-up clients, learns the science of web design and manages social media. After hours, she's out walking with her husky, or hanging out with her daughter and husband at indoor playgrounds.
