At Scalability, we truly believe that bookkeeping provides freedom to small business owners from tasks that distract from running the core business. We also believe that Cloud technology has opened up new ways to better serve small businesses, ensuring you keep your overhead costs down, and have access to up to date information about your business when and how you want it.
A good bookkeeper for small business owners isn't just one that will shield you from countless administrative and compliance headaches, such as timely HST/GST remittances, audit assistance, and income tax preparation; a good bookkeeper will adapt to your company's values and culture and will let you pursue your own purpose and dreams. Additionally, with your books always in order, it becomes a lot easier to secure credit and financing for your business, or to get the value for your business when you decide to sell it.
We have designed our business around the core value of simplicity. No business or client is too small or too big. We will respect your time and respond to inquiries in a timely manner and tailor a service that works best for you. We believe life should be easy, and the easiest way to happiness is to choose to keep things simple. Our methods focus on leveraging secure cloud and mobile technology, and we are able to support clients located anywhere in Canada.
Rustin Smith is the Owner of Scalability and CloudBooks (our parent company). His career started as a CA with KPMG followed by almost ten years as a VP with Goldman Sachs in their hedge fund accounting and administration business. The entrepreneurial itch eventually got the best of him - he left Goldman to be the VP of Finance for the Toronto software startup Wave Accounting. It was at Wave that he was introduced to the world of cloud accounting and software and realized how quickly the bookkeeping and accounting world was changing.
After a couple of years with a more traditional bookkeeping and accounting firm as the CFO and COO, he discovered Scalability. Impressed with the founders, the staff and the platform, he jumped at the opportunity to get involved.
When Rustin is not busy "Scal'ing" or telling bad jokes, he coaches his son in Leaside hockey and baseball or shuttles his daughter between dance class and hockey games! Rustin always finds some time to escape to visit and golf with family and friends across the country.
